The New Encounter

A novel dedicated by the author to Frank Buchman.

NEDKO S. ETINOFF was born in 1915, in Bulgaria, where he grew up and received his early education - till 1937. During 1938 and part of 1939 he studied in Great Britain, then in Lebanon, completing his higher education in 1943. He holds a Th. B. degree and is awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of St. Alexander by King Simeon II.

ln the Autumn of 1944 he joined the Staff of A.U.B. (The American University of Beirut) and is still with the University as Director of Activities and Instructor in Fine Arts. He considers writing as a vocation and has to his credit over 150 articles and essays, and the book - « Thirty Years in Lebanon and the Middle East ».

ln this book. « The New Encounter », the author reveals the ideas and working of a movement that started in Oxford, in the early twenties, and spread throughout the world in the several decades that followed. He observed it during his stay in Britain and links it with one of the most dramatic and fateful periods of world history - 1938-1948.

The war years, with their poignant events and battles, are well depicted in this novel, as well as the marasmus that resulted from the war, by the division of the world in two camps which has caused so much trouble and still haunts mankind.
